Celtic Tuning EGR Delete and EGR bypass software is designed to remove the functionality of the EGR valve to ensure it removes the running issues associated with these devices.
As the EGR valve is constantly working with burnt exhaust gases they naturally have high soot content. This soot in the gases causes a build-up of carbon deposits around the valve operation area which in turn causes the valve to have a tendency to stick in various positions. For full engine performance the EGR valve is closed which creates a closed loop environment for the turbo system which allows it to pressurise. A problematic EGR can create an open loop environment for the turbo as it provides a feedback straight to the intake manifold and as a result can cause boost issues along with huge reductions in power and also fuel economy!
Take a look at the Dynamometer chart, it is for a Peugeot 308 1.6 HDI 110bhp Euro 4 variant. The Run 1 is before the blanking plate was fitted and Run 2 is after fitment and just the EGR turned off so no MIL lights will appear on the dash.
You can see that peak figures have increased by 13bhp and 25lbft which is a huge loss in performance. If you look at 3,000rpm you can see losses at their highest of approximately 22bhp and 40lbft.
Having your EGR Delete software can save you money in repairs and in fuel costs. Celtic Tuning are at the forefront of EGR Removal and EGR Bypass software and can correctly remove the functionality from the software of most ECU types. Some companies will simply turn off the codes associated with it being unplugged but this is not the correct way. The EGR valve needs properly disabling to ensure it is not trying to recirculate exhausts gases whilst still physically working in the engine.
Please note that we only offer EGR solutions for Off-Road Usage only. Although it is not illegal to remove the EGR from your vehicle, it is an offence under the Road vehicles (Construction and Use) Regulations (Regulation 61a(3))1 to use a vehicle which has been modified in such a way that it no longer complies with the air pollutant emissions standards it was designed to meet. Removal of the EGR will almost invariably contravene these requirements

Factory-installed Diesel Particulate Filters (“DPF”) and Exhaust Gas Recirculation (“EGR”) systems are designed to limit harmful vehicle emissions. When these systems get blocked or obstructed they can reduce the airflow to your vehicle, causing reduced engine function or in some cases engine failure. If you request that we remove these systems (including any associated ECU reprogramming) then by doing so you acknowledge that removal of DPF or EGR systems is illegal for vehicles on roads and public highways in the United Kingdom. A vehicle without a DPF or an EGR system will fail its MOT and you may incur legal consequences for using a vehicle on the road without these parts fitted, including fines, points on your driver’s licence or potentially jail time.
Removal of certain functions and features of a vehicle, including but not limited to DPF, EGR, lambda sensors, catalytic converters, AdBlue and vehicle fault codes are subject to local laws and regulations. We advise that all customers ensure they are aware with laws and regulations applicable to on-road vehicles in the UK before requesting any systems removal work.
